I want to attach a telephone pickup coil:

to a Samsung Galaxy S smartphone as an external mic.
I tried a TRRS 3.5mm 4 conductor to 3.5mm headset/mic adaptor patch cord (GQ BA-168) but it didn't work.
I know there are issues with switching ground/mic on newer TRRS.
Any suggestions how I can get this to work?
