Amazon Reveals New Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 Android Tablets

Along with the new super-cheap Fire 7-Inch tablet, Amazon just announced two new Fire HD tabs. These are the Fire HD 8 and Fire HD 10 respectively. The price on these tablets are quite a bit more than the $50 7-inch tab, but they are still affordably priced for what you get. Here's a breakdown of specs and price for each of Amazon's new Fire HD tabs:

  • Quad-core processor up to 1.5 GHz
  • 720p HD Front-facing camera and 5 MP rear-facing camera with 1080p HD video recording
  • "All-new Amazon Underground, a one-of-a-kind app store experience where over $10,000 in apps, games and even in-app items are actually free - including extra lives, unlocked levels, unlimited add-on packs and more"
  • 16 GB or 32 GB of internal storage - Free unlimited cloud storage (for photos taken with Fire devices)
  • MicroSD card slot for up to 128 GB of additional storage
  • 8 hours battery life Wi-Fi
  • Dual-band Wi-Fi
  • Dual stereo speakers, Built-in microphone

You can now use the microSD card for offline viewing of streaming Prime Videos, and Amazon has adjusted its DRM so you can also store those movies and TV shows on it. The 8-inch variety comes in black, magenta, tangerine, and blue, while the larger 10-inch only comes in white or black.

What do you folks think? Could Amazon have a hit on their hands? The previous generation Fire tablets sold very well. These don't seem to bring much that is new to the table, but they represent a solid value to those who appreciate Amazon's ecosystem.

We have an image of the 10-Inch Fire HD tab in the thread below.
