Recovery mode logo then fade to black??

So I'm super new to android, came from an iphone 4. I have a Lenovo K3 note and it came with a rom with a lot of bloatware. I wanted to just start fresh so I flashed CWM recovery to it. When I tried to boot into recovery mode, I saw the lenovo logo, the CWM logo then it faded to black...and after that it'll just show a black screen with weird dark blocks, and I have to hold down the power button and boot normally. This is super frustrating, I've also tried TWRP and the same thing happens...if anyone can help me with this please do its really really annoying
