I have got a Samsung GT-S7272C phone as a present, bought in China. It seems to be a fairly decent phone, but it is locked down in too many stupid ways; things like not being able to use GPS if it is outside China, apparently, just seems plain weird, or the tight lock-in with certain Chinese service providers. It just makes the phone so much less useful everywhere else, so I want to root it - but how?
I have been looking around for solutions, but none of them seem to be reliable - it all turns out to be either adware or malware. Should I just give up? This kind of thing is exactly why I have resisted getting any smartphone for so long - all you get at the end of the day is a toy that tries to rip you off at every turn. Sorry about the rant, but it just winds me up.
